Seated in European fashion on a high pedestal with both feet firmly placed on its base, his right hand holding two manuscripts while the left is resting on the seat top, wearing various garments including a wide-sleeved mantle falling down his bon point belly and legs secured around the waist with a belt, his elderly face displaying a serene expression with downcast eyes below arched eyebrows, goatee and moustache framing his chin and mouth and his hair combed in a chignon covered with the specific bonnet fastened with a knotted ribbon at the reverse.
